I took a photography course through the New York Institute of Photography many years ago because I wanted to learn how to take better pictures. I learned a lot. Enough that I delved into the photography business. I was the photographer at weddings, did many grad pictures, family pictures and pregnancy/new born pictures. I loved doing it, but then it started to feel like too much pressure. Working full time and doing photography on the side was just too much and it was taking the joy away from photography. So I packed everything away for a couple of years.
Then a couple of years ago I started buying stock photography for a work project and thought …”hey I could do that”. So more research (major personality flaw 😀) and I found out enough about stock photography to start selling to a few sites. It was the best of both worlds for me. I could take pictures of what I wanted, when I wanted, and then upload them to the sell sites when I had time. I have slowly been building my portfolio and plan on continuing to do so. It brought back the fun of photography for me. And I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty exciting when someone buys one of your pictures.
